Prism Tether Cables – Developed and designed BY Photographers FOR photographers
Prism Tether Cables are built with photographers in mind, delivering lightning-fast data transfer speeds and reliable power delivery across longer lengths. Crafted from premium, high-durability materials, our cables are designed to withstand daily professional use while maintaining exceptional flexibility and strength.
Unlike traditional copper tether cables that you have been using, our fiber optic technology ensures a consistent stable connection with zero signal degradation, eliminating the need for signal repeater blocks that can also be damaged, overheat or get in the way on set. Plus, having a fiber optic signal it is far less prone to interference from radio signals and wireless devices—giving you a seamless, uninterrupted tethering experience, even in a busy studio environment.
Tested for over a year in various real-world shooting conditions, PrismTether Cables provide the reliability and performance you need to focus on capturing the perfect shot and less on your cable connection.
While most cameras will automatically recognize a tether cable connection and allow for basic file transfer, using dedicated tethering software unlocks a whole new level of control and convenience.
As photographers, we have tested and used Prism Tether cables with tethering software like Capture One and Adobe Lightroom and found it to be essential in day to day shooting.
While you can use a tether cable for basic image transfer without additional software, tethering software offers increased control, speed, and efficiency for professional photographers.
To get the most out of your Prism Tether Cable, combining it with specialised software makes the entire tethering experience far more powerful and tailored to professional needs.
Prism Tether Cables are designed with Power Delivery (PD) support, allowing you to charge your camera while simultaneously transferring data. This feature is especially useful for photographers who shoot tethered for extended periods, keeping your camera powered without the need for frequent battery swaps or an external power adapter.
However, not all cameras support power delivery over USB-C, and compatibility depends on the camera model and in some cases the battery type . Some cameras, such as Sony and Nikon, may have PD functionality turned off by default, requiring you to manually activate it in the settings.
We strongly recommend using them only for their intended purpose - transferring images and powering your camera - not for charging other devices such as phones or tablets.
Before using our Prism Tether USB-C tether cable for power delivery, it's essential to:
▪️Check your camera's manual or manufacturer's specifications to confirm PD support.
▪️Ensure that both ends of the cable are connected correctly and that there is power from the laptop/desktop
